עָלַב

עָלַבto press upon; to arrogate superiority; to humiliate, insult. Gitt.36b; Yoma 23a הנֶעֱלָבִין ואינן עוֹלְבִיןוכ׳ those who are insulted, and do not insult, hear themselves reviled , v. חֶרְפָּה; Sabb.88b עֲלוּבִיןוכ׳ (Ms. M. הנעלבין).V. עָלוּב.
